First, you should let it be known that that the buyer would receive some signed CDs/LPs and Kelly Willis T-Shirts with the home 🏡 purchase….That should seal the deal 🤝 quickly!!
I find looking back on these daily thoughts extremely charming. As years pass, and life becomes so complicated, it’s refreshing to lose yourself in a simpler time in your life…You can also laugh, knowing how things turned out…becoming one of the biggest, and most-loved stars in the genre.
Kelly I LOVE ALL YOUR POSTS! And I so miss seeing you on IG. Oh how I especially love this post. I love my ranch so much but I’m also an old crone now and the same amount of work is getting exponentially harder than it was ten years ago. Whenever I fantasize selling it to move back to the city, the neighborhood my heart always lands on is Hyde Park. In my 24 years in town I lived in Hyde Park, Travis Heights, Clarksville and Cherrywood (hahaha, back when one could afford to rent in these places). Maybe it’s because Hyde Park is where I first landed that I love it the most. The other day on Zillow I noticed that one can now buy a “condo” in what was, when I lived there, The Avenel Apartments at 38 and Guadalupe. Such SHITTY apartments! But the “condos” are going for nearly $300,000. Congratulations on your new rental!
Good luck! I've actually come down from my Nor Cal home to record three albums in the last four years in the studio you guys built on the back of your old house on Caswell....(with the help of the guitar stylings of your old friend Mike Hardwick, who only has a million or so good things to say about you, btw) ... still a good studio!
I sure hope your your new place works out for you. Moving sucks. Back in the 90s I moved 3 1/2 times in a year. I moved from one apartment to another for a few months. That's one. I got a job in Omaha a few months after I moved in and moved half my stuff there. That's the half because it didn't work out and I moved back to Des Moines in a friend's house. That's 2 1/2. Then, a few months later, I moved into a small 1BR. That's 3 1/2. I've only moved twice more since then and not for 26 years. See you on Friday!
I had no idea you'd been living in Austin since 1988...2/3 of your life. I know where you're from...you're a Texican...an Austin, Texican! JD Souther (RIP!) couldn't say "it used to be her town..." as it seems it was and still is your town! I grew up in Dallas but have lived in Houston since 1985. Dallas is no longer "home" to me; it's kinda foreign now. Houston is home, like Austin is home for you. You definitely have me beaten on places where you got mail! Four in forty years for me. Sad to say I missed your Mucky Duck show last Thursday. I had a SRO ticket but was feeling puny and didn't want to infect fellow Mucky Duckers, if I had a contagious malady. Safe travels, The Fool With Parrot Eyes.
Holy guacamole. Is that Ultraman that I spy with my little eye? I am always misplacing by Beta Capsule. Good luck with the house sale and subsequent move. I have found in my history that I had some of my grandest adventures while dwelling in the humblest of abodes.
Kelly, I really enjoy your entries here, because you keep it down-home and real. But, damn, I happen to love old movies with folks like Greta Garbo, so I am very curious to know more about the Tijuana bible, however unsharable it may be!

Hi, Kelly. Does your house come with Raccoons or Without Raccoons???
Good luck with your move.
Free raccoons!
This doesn’t seem like a good selling point. But what do I know? Good luck with the sale!

Thank you, Spike! Cherrywood is my new dream location! But I decide to buy again I may have to settle for actual north austin!
I loved reading this Kelly! Fingers crossed for buyer as soon as you can stand it and good luck with your next place.
Thanks, Amy!

Aw, thanks! Mike is the greatest!

See you next week, in Vienna! Worked out with my wife’s work-travel schedule for us both to catch the show.

Here for the updates the tour de Kelly walks etc. As Robb said keep on walking and your folks are happy to walk alongside
Love you, Kelly. I don't see enough of you on the Stack.
Hope it sells fast! Keep moving forward! You are getting stronger!

You'll make plenty of new memories, Kelly, and I'll bet they'll be wonderful.

I remember when you lived next door to my friends, Kitten and Char in Hyde Park. I was visiting from Pennsylvania and got to meet you.
Very astute idea, Ms. Willis. Resistant to change and panic attacks? Yep, stay close to the familiar. And try to avoid sunburns. But keep on walking.
